Communication In The Past
Runners
Runners were people who used to run to different places to deliver messages from kings, generals and other important people. They would get very tired after their run. Some would even die after their trip. It is said that the marathon race gets its name from a runner who ran from the Plains Of Marathon to deliver a message to the Greek King.
Mirrors
In
the past human beings used a variety of ways to communicate with each
other. Communication was a very necessary thing for communities to develop.
Here are some old ways of communicating
Mirrors
where used as a sign of warning or gathering. They would put the mirror up
to the light and they would make different reflections for different callings
or signs.
Smoke Signals
Smoke signals were also used to communicate. Different tribes used different signals for different messages.
Drums
Drums
where used to give a sign of
either warning, gathering, or war. The drummer would beat on the drum
in a distinctive way, for a very specific sign.
Message Sticks
Message sticks had carved messages in their stone or wood base, and were passed on from messenger to messenger. This is how the batten race came about.
